We often hear people saying, follow your passion. Do what your heart wants. And a lot of talented artists actually do abide by this and make their art their profession. Even though we envy these free-spirited souls we often do not realize that we are not giving them the respect they deserve. We as a society enjoy and relish their performances, but the moment it is over we just walk away without giving it another thought. And that is unfair. We as a society ought to pay our respect and regards to these talented individuals who perform for us.

Taking this thought forward, Ashwanth Vergis started a foundation, Respect Your Artist. Through this platform, he publicizes all types of artists like musicians, painters, dancers, singers, and many more. Ashwanth is a musician himself and has good networking in the music circle. This helps him get in touch with various kinds of artists. He writes blogs and posts about the journey, struggles, and experiences that these artists go through. This helps in giving us commoners an insight into the lives of an artist and we become aware of the various struggles they need to go through. It makes us understand that the grass always looks greener on the other side and that to make a place in the industry is a difficult task.

On the page, alongside the posts of the artists, there is also an option of ‘Pay respect’ to the artist. By clicking on the ‘Pay respect’ tab, people who have enjoyed an art form can give money directly to the artist as a sign of respect. Exclusive videos or tutorial sessions can be requested, and artist paintings and photographs can also be purchased.

Ashwanth has been writing blogs on artists for roughly over 2 years now, while the website is a relatively new initiative. As of now, they have over 60 registered members on the website from all over the world. Some renowned artists have registered as members; such are world record holders, Grammy nominees, and many more. The entire website has been designed to empower artists and give them as much exposure as possible.

Life is not as easy as it seems for artists. Look at them without your rose-tinted glasses and you will begin to see the struggles they go through. Appreciate them for what they do and give them respect, because they most definitely do deserve it.
